BIO
Vasiliki Mitsou (Athens, Greece, 1972) is a head scientist at Instituto de Física Corpuscular of Universidad de Valencia. She is noted for her contribution to the implementation and development of the ATLAS and MoEDAL experiments with the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Switzerland). These experiments are dedicated to the search for a ‘new physics,’ which is expected to overcome the limitations of the standard model currently in use to explain the universe.
PROJECT
In this project, Mitsou will explore supersymmetry models with ATLAS to improve understanding of some of the fundamental particles. The MoEDAL Collaboration (whose Board she chairs) supplements the ATLAS features and may respond to questions such as: Does nature have extra dimensions? How is mass generated? How did the Big Bang evolve in its first stage? and What is the nature of dark matter?
