Vanessa Montfort Écija

Vanessa Montfort Écija (Barcelona, 1975) is a writer and theater director. Her works include a dozen plays and four novels, three of which have received awards: the Ateneo Joven Seville Prize (in 2006 and 2010) and the City of Zaragoza Prize for Best Historical Novel (2014).
She is also director of the theatrical company Hijos de Mary Shelley, the only group in Spain dedicated to fantastic theater, and founder of the producer BEMYBABY Films.

Her project will consist of ‘Invisibles,’ a realistic novel that will examine Spanish emigration to New York after the 2007 crisis, with a particular focus on the brain drain and the psychological effects of the change of country on emigrants and their families. It is a multimedia project in which a blog and YouTube channel will collect interviews and other documentary materials that are recorded in the process of creating the work.
