Santiago SerrateSantiago Serrate Ollé (Sant Quirze del Vallès, Barcelona, 1975) is an orchestral conductor who is well known among other reasons, for having given 18 world premieres of works by Spanish, Portuguese and Italian composers of the 20th and 21st century.
PROJECT
The project, which has obtained the Leonardo grant for Researchers and Cultural Creators, will give the first performance of the chamber opera ‘Tenorio’ by the Madrid composer Tomás Marco (1942). The work was commissioned by the 10th Musical Summer of 2009 and its director, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, for performance in the Teatro Principal of Burgos on September 10 of that year.
The economic crisis affected the finance available and in the end only a suite was premiered conducted by Serrate himself. This Leonardo grant finally allows the premiere of ‘Tenorio’, a 65-minute work, in the 2016-2017 season.
