BIO
Patricia Horcajada Cortés (Madrid, 1978) is a Ramón y Cajal researcher employed at IMDEA Energía. She is a graduate in Pharmaceutics and has a PhD in Materials Science. She began an innovative field of study at Institut Lavoisier de Versailles (France): the biomedical application of new porous metal-organic framework (MOF) polymers.
PROJECT
Horcajada will assess the capacity of MOFs in energy storage systems. One of the obstacles to the mass implementation of renewable energies and electronic vehicles is the lack of high-performance energy storage systems. Organic systems may be an alternative to those used at present, but they have not yet given satisfactory results. Horcajada will try to improve these materials by using MOFs, which have demonstrated their effectiveness in other applications, such as hydrogen storage.
