BIO
Pablo Echart (Irún, Guipúzcoa, 1973) is assistant professor of Culture and Audiovisual Communication at Universidad de Navarra. He participated in the screenplay of ‘Atrapa la bandera’ (2015), which won a Goya award for best animation film in 2016.
PROJECT
The project is to write ‘The dream of Europe: the movie script,’ a full-length feature based on the book ‘Europa, un salto a lo desconocido’ (Europe, a leap into the unknown) (Encuentro, 2015), by Victoria Martín de la Torre. As is the case with the book, the film will evoke the fathers of the European Union: Jean Monnet, Robert Shcuman, Konrad Adenauer, Alcide de Gasperi and Paul-Henri Spaak. Echart notes that they are men whose personality and political vision was forged through adversity: they were young in World War I, confronted totalitarianism and led the reconstruction of Europe following World War II. The purpose of the film is to spread ‘optimism and passion for a dream that continues to be as necessary now as 70 years ago’ among the new European generations.
