BIO
Luis Miguel González Cruz (Caceres, 1965) is a playwright from Extremadura who has won awards such as the 2001 BORN Theater Prize, the 1999 Lope de Vega Prize, the 1995 Calderón de la Barca Prize and the 1995 Rojas Zorrilla Prize.
PROJECT
His proposal, ‘Hotel Florida,’ is a dramatic trilogy based on an exploration of the Spanish Civil War that analyzes the interior motives of the creators and artists and their role in the explosion of reality arising from a war.
The principal character of this theatrical trilogy is the Hotel Florida itself, a meeting place for Spanish and international intellectuals, reporters and writers during the conflict.
González Cruz creates an atmosphere in which the carpeted rooms and corridors cushion the furious rattling of the typewriters and machine guns.
