PROJECT
‘Borderland’ gives form to a project for an installation drawing that will explore the border conflict between the United States and Mexico through an ornamental format of the Mexican pre-Hispanic tradition: ‘papel picado’ (perforated paper). It will give highlight the role of rebels within this reality (female hired assassins in the Las Flacas or Las Gladys cartels, El Coyote, who crosses the border without papers, Las Patronas who every day give food to people without papers, the children of the cartel who are captured by narcos or the so-called ‘wetbacks’…).
Its aim is to ‘bring this border conflict to the general public’ through an appropriation of what is a popular medium.
