Leire Escajedo

Leire Escajedo San Epifanio (Bilbao, 1973) is a full professor in the Department of Constitutional Law at Universidad del País Vasco.

PROJECT

Her project analyzes the most exhaustive and demanding set of regulations in the world on biotechnology: the EU regulatory framework on genetically modified organisms, whose third version was issued in 2015.

The aim is to determine why the prior EU legal developments failed, what differentiates Europe from the path followed by other regions in the world, and if possible offer guarantees for the healthy and sustainable development of biotechnology in the EU.
