BIO
Juan Jacinto Muñoz Rengel (Malaga, 1974) is a writer and teacher of Creative Writing, as well as a contributor to the media. His extensive work has been translated into English, French, Italian, Turkish and Russian.
PROJECT
The work consists of the materialization in the specific form of a book of a project that was started by the author in 2002, and that includes a decade of thought, trips and documentation. It narrates the life of Nikolaos Popoulos, the greatest imaginer of all time, an amazing character born in Athens in 1513 with a capacity for dreaming that goes beyond natural limits. With the excuse of his trips from the monasteries of Mount Athos to Wallachia, from the Adriatic to Istanbul, the work explores the European sources of the fantasy genre, Gothic terror and even science-fiction, all with the aesthetic deployment inherent to magic realism and adventure stories.
