BIO
Josué Martínez de la Puente (Segovia, 1981) is a postdoctoral intern at Estación Biológica de Doñana (Spanish National Research Center).
PROJECT
With a PhD in Biology, his project will investigate the dynamics of transmission by mosquitoes of the parasites of bird malaria (Plasmodium) that moves naturally among birds, and the emerging parasite Dirofilaria that moves among carnivores but that could affect human beings.
The aim is to study the impact of the community of vertebrates, the vectors (mosquitoes) and the environmental characteristics on the prevalence, richness and diversity of the pathogens with different cycles of transmission in three species of mosquitoes.
The results of this study will represent a great advance in the understanding of the epidemiological patters of emerging pathogens.
