BIO
Jordi Bayona i Carrasco (Olessa de Montserrat, Barcelona, 1973) is a researcher at Centro de Estudios Demográficos (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona).
PROJECT
His research on the integration process of the immigrant population in Spain will aim to answer three questions: Does the place in which individuals live determine their possibilities of finding a job or the educational level that they may acquire? What is this possibility among populations of immigrant origin? And finally, What are the impacts of the economic crisis on the areas where the immigrant population live? For this it will use data from the Continuous Municipal Register, which allows annual monitoring. It will focus on the two major metropolitan areas in Spain: Barcelona and Madrid, which together concentrate more than 2 million immigrants. Bayona hopes the results will be of special interest for the political administration of urban space.
