Jon Andoni Duñabeitia Landaburu

Jon Andoni Duñabeitia Landaburu (Bilbao, 1981) received a PhD in Psychology from Universidad de La Laguna in Tenerife. He currently heads up the Multilingual Literacy research group at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language.

His project aims to discover the differences between the brain of a literate person and that of one who is illiterate, to discover the effects of becoming literate on neurocognitive functions.

The practical application of the conclusions of his research could reduce this neural and cognitive difference through educational processes that provide illiterate adults with reading and writing skills, so the project could have a significant effect from both the neuroscientific and socio-educational perspective.
