BIO
Jesús María Carrasco Jaramillo (Badajoz, 1972) published his first novel ‘Intemperie’ in 2013, and it has been translated into twenty languages. In Spain it is into its 21st edition, a film is to be made soon, and at the end of this year it will be published as a comic.
His second novel, ‘La tierra que pisamos,’ was published this year. It is now into its third edition and is expected to be translated into seven languages. Carrasco has received various awards for his work, such as the European Union Prize for Literature, Prix Ulysse for a first novel, and the award for Book of the Year in 2013.
PROJECT
His next novel will be ‘Bisonte’ (Bison), for which he has requested this grant. The novel will continue with one of the core themes of his literary work: the complex and delicate relationship between human beings and nature.
The innovation in this case resides in the bison being the narrator: the author wants the fist person voice of this novel to be that of a bison.
