BIO
Iñaki San Pedro García (Tarragona, 1972) is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at Universidad del País Vasco (UPV(EHU). His line of research is focused on the study and characterization of the concept of causality in indeterminate contexts, specifically in quantum mechanics, and its implications on the idea of locality.
PROJECT
The aim of this project is to go into detail in the analysis of the meaning of what is called “measurement independence” in the context of the causal explanations of the EPR correlations in relation to the idea of free will (basically, understood as the independence by an experimenter in terms of decisions related to carrying out an EPR experiment) and confirm the hypothesis that measurement independence is not a condition that adequately reflects the freedom of experimenters to make decisions. In addition, and in relation to the above, it also aims to offer a detailed analysis of the implications of the violation of the “measurement independence” condition. Specifically, the research is aimed at the possibility of establishing a connection between “measurement independence” and the idea of location, or equivalently, between the violation or negation of “measurement independence” and the idea of quantum nonlocality.
