Ignacio Bartomeus Roig

Ignacio Bartomeus Roig (Barcelona, 1981) has a Ramón y Cajal scholarship at Estación Biológica de Doñana, Spanish National Research Center. Only 34 years old, he has already published many articles in high-impact journals such as ‘PNAS’, ‘Science’ and ‘Nature Communications’. His project aims to bring light to a subject that is particularly urgent: the decline across the world of bee populations, which have an essential role to play in pollinating plants and crops. 

His project collects and analyzes data on bee colonies in Spain over recent decades to put into perspective the current crisis and understand the changes in their populations over time.
