BIO
Guillermo Mariño García (Oviedo, 1979) is a Ramón y Cajal researcher at Universidad de Oviedo. His career so far has focused on the study of autophagy, which is one of the main routes involved in stress-induced metabolic adaptation, related to alterations that underly aging and a variety of pathologies.
PROJECT
The project investigates the role of the metabolite Acetyl-CoA in autophagy. Specifically, it searches for the molecular modifications responsible for modulating autophagy related to Acetyl-CoA, and if there are specific drugs already approved for use capable of mimicking these effects in relating to the cytoprotective induction of autophagy.
