Graciela Gil-RomeraGraciela María Gil Romera (Madrid, 1979) is a biologist working for Instituto Pirenaico de Ecología-CSIC (Huesca). She has extensive experience related to the reconstruction and remodeling of fossil landscapes to help understand abrupt changes in the climate and the environment induced by human beings.
Her level of research excellence is backed by a large number of publications in high-impact journals, stays of various years in foreign centers related to the subject and work with some of the best researchers in the field.
PROJECT
Her project is an attempt to understand the relationship between fires, changes in vegetation, climate and land use in the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean basin over a scale of centuries and millennia. This is done by studying pollen and soot remains deposited in the fossil record over the last 11,000 years.
