BIO
Francisco Javier del Campo García (Madrid, 1976) is a graduate in Chemical Sciences from Strathclyde University and Universidad UPV-EHU, and has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Oxford. Currently he is head scientist at the Spanish National Research Center.
He has published over 90 articles and 6 chapters in books, has participated in more than 40 congresses and is co-inventor of 8 patents.
PROJECT
The aim of his project ‘Self-powered electrochromic biosensors’ for which he is requesting the grant, is to consolidate a new line of research that will include the synthesis of new organic electrochromic materials, the characterization of their fundamental properties, exploration of new applications and development of new devices.
The main characteristics of these materials is that they have different optic properties depending on their state of oxidation. They are currently used above all to manufacture intelligent glass for more energy-efficient buildings, and for low-consumption or low-cost screens.
