PROJECT
Can you see sound? That could be the question behind ‘Spectre,’ the project receiving the grant, created by this PhD in Fine Arts from Universidad de Barcelona. Its aim is to explore the graphic, visual and sculptural capacities of the sound medium.
First, in the form of a large-scale exhibition work of traditional photoengraving that will include spectrograms (graphic representations) of sounds and recordings of everyday subjects. Second, the project will develop four 3D model works in which the textures, qualities, gestures and images will also be based on the spectrograms.
Finally, it will include sounds in real time through a sensitive and reactive system for exploring the fleeting and changing dimension of sound.
Comelles will thus carry out artistic research that is based on sound art to create the plastic and contemplative dimension of sound.
