David Gómez-Ullate Oteiza (Madrid, 1973) is a professor at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and member of Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (CSIC-UAM-UCM-UC3M). His research career covers multiple areas of applied mathematics, among them financial mathematics. According to Thomson Reuters Incites he is the fifth most cited Spanish scientist in mathematics in the last 10 years.
PROJECT
His project develops artificial intelligence techniques to deal with problems of classifying and interpreting large volumes of data. In particular it involves the application of techniques developed for detecting fraud in electronic transactions. The project applies mathematical, statistical and programming ideas to real problems. The universities have still not developed training programs in data science, so among its aims the project includes the training of researchers.
