Cristian Crusat Schretzmeyer (Malaga, 1983) has a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), and is author of ‘Vidas de vidas. Una historia no académica de la biografía’ (Life of lives: a non-academic history of of biography), which received the Malaga Essay Prize for 2014, and four works of fiction, one of which, ‘Breve teoría del viaje y del desierto,’ received the European Union Prize for Literature 2013 and was translated into six languages.
PROJECT
His project ‘The invisible framework’ will be an essay on the biographical poetics developed by authors such as W.B. Sebald, Pascal Quignard, Enrique Vila-Matas, Antonio Tabucchi and Max Aub, with the aim of demonstrating the tensions felt by the literature of the 21st century, in particular those affecting ideas of truth and verisimilitude, and that have found a special outlet in the genre of biography.
