Carolina ÁfricaCarolina África Martín Pajares (Madrid, 1980) is a writer and theater director, actor, producer, journalist and member of the Spanish Academy of Theatrical Arts. She works under the artistic name of Carolina África. Among her works are ‘Verano en diciembre’ (Calderón de la Barca Prize, 2012), ‘Vientos de levante,’ and ‘La penúltima.’
She has also directed works by others, such as ‘El ogrito,’ ‘Lady Day’ and ‘Dedos.’ As a film actor she has worked with David Trueba in ‘Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados,’ ‘Ya nadie escribe cartas’ and ‘¿Qué fue de Jorge Sanz?’ and in a number of TV series.
PROJECT
Her project ‘Madre Yerma’ partially overlaps with her own pregnancy. It will narrate in theatrical form the different perspectives that a woman can have with respect to gestation. As well as a play the project will include video-art materials and a detailed study of anonymous stories on maternity and non-maternity.
