BIO
Bruno David Lourenço Paiva (Coimbra, Portugal, 1983), is a scientific researcher at Clínica Universidad de Navarra, and a recognized expert in multiple myeloma (a cancer of the blood that begins in the plasma cells of the bone marrow) and in the field of minimal residual disease (MRD) (the persistence of a small number of tumoral cells in the body following treatment, which are the cause of relapses).
In 2015 he received the Bart Barlogie Young Investigator Award from the International Myeloma Society and the Future Leaders in Hematology Award at the Celgene Awards.
PROJECT
In his project, Lourenço will study the molecular mechanisms of MRD to understand why some tumor cells resist treatments, and search for new MRD-specific therapeutic strategies in multiple myeloma.
