PROJECT
The purpose of this project is to extend the size of an original sculpture measuring 37 x 60 x 41 cm to a large scale (200 x 325 x 220 cm). The work is the culmination of a process that began years ago in a new stage of the development of stainless steel sculptures, when color combinations were introduced for the first time. Covering the sculptures constructed with welded bars with perforated plates has added volume and movement to these spatial structures, creating more dynamism as the scale increased. It is here that these perforated plates go a step further and have required the introduction of color; not simply by way of color superimposed or painted on the surface, but lacquered during the manufacturing process of the material, so that the perception of the “metallic” qualities of reflection and irradiation of light are intensified as they combine with other colors.
