This project analyzes the role of communication in political activism on the Internet and its capacity to transform democracy, specifically based on an analysis of the following questions:

1. The relationship between the conventional media and political activism on the Internet, to calibrate whether changes have taken place in the paradigm of political mediation.
2. The emergency of new information agents (alternative digital media and citizen journalists) linked to activism and its capacity to produce and disseminate new political discourses and promote social change.
3. The new dynamics of creating interest and the public agenda in the context of the social media and their capacity to transform the dynamics of the public sphere and democracy.
4. The organization of monitoring and supervision processes boosted by activism on the Internet and its democratic consequences.
