BIO
Alfonso Herranz Loncán (Zaragoza, 1969) is professor at the Economics and Business Faculty of Universidad de Barcelona. His lines of research are into the economic history of Spain and Latin America, the history of transport and history of public policies.
PROJECT
His project will examine in depth the factors that determined the success or failure to attract international investment for the construction of railroad networks in Latin America, during the period known as the First Globalization.
The results will offer a new perspective for a better understanding of the economic development of Latin America during this period, and may also be of interest for debates on infrastructure investment in developing countries.
